Business Continuity

Resiliency

SixtyBit Consulting can assist in Evolving a Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity Program by:

  • Identify near- and long-term threats and mitigations to provide a more sustainable COOP approach.

  • Define staffing plans that address contingencies for loss of key staff and functionality.

  • Define third party relationships that can be leveraged for spot emergencies or long-term alternative capability.

  • Define communications plans to address public relations and media coverage of the emergency.

The Prime Directive

The prime directive of any organization is to survive.  Survival depends on clearly articulated vision, unambiguous policy and procedural statement,  and reasoned, practical contingency planning for operational incidents and disasters.

The typical disaster recovery and business continuity plans we see in practice are vague and assume a binary state of the disaster issues -- disaster or normal operations.  Unfortunately, the world operates in a more granular fashion.  The backup site may not be much use if there is no staff to operate it.

Additionally, the majority of disaster plans we have reviewed have nominal mention of returning to “normal” operation.  Often the return to “normal” is just as disruptive as the disaster was and needs to be planned and coordinated with at least as much care as the disaster planning.
